Trip To Balearock
"In certain pockets of the interweb, there is a quiet revitilazation of one of the more forgotten subgenres in dance music history. Some may refer to it as Balearic (in reference to its origin on the Balearic island of Ibiza, Spain, in the ’80s), others call it ‘Balearock’ (because of its psychadelic vibe) and some SoCal residents have coined the term ‘Pacifica’ to describe its breezy, sleazy and somewhat cheesy sound. Labels like Eskimo Recordings are leading the revival, so we asked label owner Dirk Eskimo to give us a whiff of what Balearic or Balearock or whatever really smells like. Needless to say, we’re diggin’ the fume".
